This is the interior of the parachute loft of one of the two operations offices at Randolph Field.

Open for operations by December 21, 1931, the west (A Stage) flight line conducted primary flying training with Consolidated PT-1s and PT-3s. Those were paved aprons in front of the hangars. The hangars ran from C, at the top, to J, at the bottom. Even today, the area at the top of the photograph is still largely rural, although some construction is beginning to creep in from the right.

The West Operations Office, also known as Building 133 (now Building 66), was virtually identical to the East Operations Office, except that it did not have an office over the jutting front of the building. Its radio control tower cupola was also replaced with a larger operations tower. It has gone through several uses and now houses the Gaylor Airman Leadership School.
